Assisting with the Mass provides opportunities to fulfill our baptismal call of service to one another.
Liturgy Assistants prepare the altar with necessary vessels before Mass, along with hosts and wine. They ensure all liturgical ministry areas are filled. Training is provided.
Readers proclaim the Word of God (1st and 2nd Readings) and the Intercessions of Faith to the parishioners so that all may share more deeply in the Eucharistic celebration. Lectors should possess good speaking skills and be comfortable speaking in front of people. Lectors serve at the Mass of their choice. Lectors may also serve for weekday Masses. Training and a workbook to prepare readings are provided.
Altar Servers assist priests and deacons during Masses so the liturgy can be conducted with grace and revererence. This ministry is open to youth in grade four or higher, as well as adults. Training is provided.
Funeral Alrar Servers accompany the presider as he greets the family and receives the body in the entrance procession and assists the priest during the Mass. Funeral Servers are trained specifically for these Masses and are called upon on as as needed basis.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion distribute the Eucharist to their fellow parishioners during Communion at daily and weekend Masses, as well as special liturgical celebrations. Ministers must be 18 or older and confirmed. Training is provided.
Greeters enthusiastically open doors for people and welcome parishioners and guests coming to Masses and events. This ministry is open to all ages and is a great family ministry.
Ministers of Hospital assist in creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for the celebration of Masses. Ministers of Hospitality help people find seating as they gather, take up the collection, secure the offertory, facilitate the Communion process, attend to the safety and security of the assembly, and clean up after Masses. This ministry is open to both men and women, as well as families. Training is provided.
